Party Spicy Salsa Guacamole Dip - A warm or cool treat!

So this dip is not an average guacamole recipe, as it incorporates salsa!! Its a great dip for parties, or just a snack! I love to make it as a way for me to get some healthy fats, some veggies from the salsa, and a salty fix!

This recipe incorporates 2 recipes, one for salsa and one for the spicy guacamole! If spicy isn't your favorite, you can definitely omit the spicy ingredients .

If you have never had warm guacamole, it really is a delicious treat. It reminds me of a warm spinach artichoke dip with the creaminess. But if warm guacamole isn't your thing, try the recipe out cold! I like it that way as well!

Party Spicy Salsa Guacamole Dip

Ingredients: Salsa

1 can diced tomatos (try out the spicy varieties with green chiles! I also like to use the garlic infused versions, but plain will do just as great!)
1 garlic clove, finely minced
1/8 cup finely chopped cilantro
1/4 cup finely diced onion (I prefer yellow in this recipe)
*For spicy, add 1 finely chopped jalapeƱo -- with seeds for extra hot, omit seeds for medium heat

Ingredients: Guacamole (2 versions)

Version 1

1 avocado
1 garlic clove
1/8 cup finely chopped yellow onion
1 tbsp chopped cilantro

*For spicy, add 1 finely chopped jalapeno -- with seeds for extra hot, omit seeds for medium heat.
1 tsp salt (to taste)
1 tsp lemon or lime juice (optional)

Guacamole Version 2 (My go-to version, for ease)

1 avocado

Salt to taste
2 tbsp hot sauce
1 tsp lemon or lime juice (optional)

Instructions:

Salsa!

For this recipe you are going to want to start with refrigerator cold ingredients, so that your completed product is cool.

Start by emptying your can of diced tomatoes. I like my salsa chunky, but if you prefer smoother salsa feel free to place it in a food processor on pulse for a couple seconds to thin it out.

Empty the can of tomatoes into your mixing bowl, adding all of your ingredients and giving it a mix. Add a bit of hot sauce if you want it extra spicy. Cover and place into fridge while you continue the recipe to make guacamole.

If you prefer to make your salsa ahead of time, it does develop a stronger and nicer flavor as it sits in the fridge. It really gives a chance for the flavors to marry and fuse with each other.

Guacamole!

Peel and remove all of the meat from your avocado into a bowl, using a fork mashed the avocado to your desired chunkiness. For extra smooth avocado, place into a food processor and pulse to desired chunkiness.

Add all your hot sauce from version 2, or all of the ingredients from version 1 and give it a stir.

You can stop at this point if you wish, but I prefer to take this extra step to make an extra creamy delicious combo.

In a small skillet, add your guacamole mixture and heat on medium for 1 minute to 90 seconds until heated through and place into your serving bowl. Create a divot in the center of your guacamole (Like you would do to mashed potatoes for gravy) and pour enough salsa into the space to fill it and enjoy! I particularly like the combination of spicy, creamy, warm and cold. It tastes fantastic!

Another great tip is to use pickled jalapeƱos -- they stay in the fridge and have a great flavor with the perfect amount of spice! It's one of my favorite ways to heat up my dishes.

I often each this with a tortilla, chips, celery, or over some chicken! It really is a great, easy recipe for parties or just an easy snack. Enjoy!

Also, just to note, feel free to use store bought salsa, and guacamole and add ingredients you like to make it your own. I really love this recipe because of the warm and cold mixture of the salsa and guac. Give it a try, especially if you have never had warm guacamole!
